Luís Nascimento — Psychotherapist in Lisbon

I am Luís Nascimento, Clinical Psychologist, full member of Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP) with Professional Licence n.º 6640. I have held the Specialist Degree in Clinical Psychology since 2003 and the specialties in Clinical and Health Psychology and Psychotherapy recognised by the OPP.

I support people living with anxiety, persistent emotional suffering, traumatic experiences and relational difficulties. I seek to create a safe, calm therapeutic space where each person can feel welcomed and respected.

I have extensive experience in treating people with addictive behaviours and dependencies, including substance dependence, gambling, pornography and love addiction. I know that addictions are, almost always, attempts to survive emotional pain.

I hold a degree in Clinical Psychology from ISPA and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Universidade de Lisboa. I work with trauma-centred therapeutic approaches, especially EMDR, and I am a member of Associação EMDR Portugal (n.º 497) and affiliated with the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation. I completed advanced training in trauma psychology and treatment (IPSA-Levante, Spain).

My model and clinical practice are also influenced by training in psychoanalysis obtained at Sociedade Portuguesa de Psicanálise and in relational psychoanalysis at PsiRelacional.

I see psychotherapy as a shared process, where it is possible to feel, understand and progressively recover inner freedom, restoring a fuller sense to one’s own life.
